EWAYES 25: Ghana Empowers Women and Youth to Drive Agribusiness Growth.

Ghana’s agribusiness sector is gearing up for a major transformation with the upcoming Eligreen Women and Youth Agribusiness Exhibition Summit (EWAYES 25), taking place 13–14 October 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Organized by the Eligreen Agribusiness Hub in collaboration with Ghana EXIMBANK, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industries, and the Presidential Initiative on Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), the two-day summit has the official endorsement of President John Mahama.

EWAYES 25 is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants, including women entrepreneurs, youth-led startups, policymakers, development partners, and international investors.

Breaking Barriers in Agribusiness

Themed “Breaking Barriers: Securing Market and Financial Access for Women and Youth in Agribusiness”, the summit will tackle critical challenges that have long held back smallholder farmers, women-led businesses, and young agripreneurs—especially limited access to finance, technology, and sustainable markets.

According to Eligreen Agribusiness Hub data, Ghana’s agriculture and agribusiness sector was worth $12 billion in 2023, with forecasts pointing to $18 billion by 2030. Experts believe that dismantling barriers for women and youth is key to unlocking wealth creation, advancing food security, and driving rural transformation.

“By empowering women and youth in agribusiness, we are strengthening food security, creating jobs, and building climate-smart rural economies,” said Hon. Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku, founder of the Eligreen Agribusiness Hub and former MP for Domeabra-Obom.

A Packed Agenda for Change

The summit will showcase:

  • Policy dialogues with government leaders and investors
  • Exhibitions of innovative agribusiness solutions
  • Business-to-business (B2B) forums for partnerships
  • Capacity-building workshops and mentorship
  • Digital training clinics for agritech adoption

A major highlight will be the launch of solar-powered processing units and irrigation systems, innovations designed to boost climate-smart agriculture in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Organizers expect that over 70% of participants will launch or scale up their agribusiness ventures with better access to capital, improved technologies, and stronger market linkages.

Building a National Platform

With support from NGOs, donor agencies, private investors, and policymakers, EWAYES 25 is set to accelerate Ghana’s food security agenda while positioning the nation as a regional hub for agribusiness innovation.

“This is more than just a summit; it is a national platform to unlock opportunities, share knowledge, and connect stakeholders across the agricultural value chain,” Ackuaku emphasized.

As Ghana pushes forward, EWAYES 25 could become the turning point for women and youth in agribusiness, paving the way for inclusive and sustainable growth.
